1st Annual
Jack-N-Jill Randonee Weekend
Teton Pass Ski Resort ● Choteau, Montana
March 2-3, 2013
Join us for the first annual Jack-N-Jill Randonee Weekend! We have the No-Name Scramble on Saturday at 1:30 PM and the more challenging Jack-N-Jill race on Sunday morning at 9:30 AM. It’s going to be a fun-filled weekend with something for everyone with prizes from several great businesses as well as live music, and food + drink specials!
You may wonder, what is this “randonee” we speak of? Randonee, also known as Alpine Touring, refers to a type of skiing in which you ascend the mountain using your own power with the aid of special bindings and “skins”, a Velcro like material that sticks to the snow. A Randonee Race involves “skinning” up a set track and then racing down a designated course. The winner is the person who completes the course in the least amount of time. Snowboarders welcome!
Make a weekend of it! Below is the schedule of events and race guidelines:
- No-Name Scramble (in-bounds randonee race) starts at 1:30 PM. All participants must be registered by 1 PM. Entry fee is $10. Participants may skin, hike, or snowshoe up the designated uphill route. Transceivers and avalanche gear are not mandatory. Total elevation gain is 900 feet. Prizes awarded in Men’s, Women’s, and Youth categories.
- Live music by Erik “Fingers” Ray starts at 3 PM and continues into the evening!
- Jack-N-Jill Rando Race starts at 9:30 AM. All participants must be registered and present by 8:30 AM for course orientation. Entry fee is $30 for pre-registration and $35 for those who register the day of the event. Entry fee includes an all-day lift ticket, a T-shirt, and a beer stein keepsake. Participants must use skins on the designated uphill routes, and transceivers and avalanche gear are mandatory. Total elevation gain is 2000+ feet.
